In a world that often pulls us away from ourselves and each other, it’s not always easy to find a clear path forward. As a wellness and relationship coach, I’m here to walk alongside you as you navigate the complexities of personal growth, healing, and connection. Whether you’re working through addiction, seeking healthier relationships, or simply craving a deeper sense of self, my role is to support you in creating a more grounded, fulfilling life—one step at a time.

Hi, I'm Joy Castillo

I’m a wellness and relationship coach—and a woman of color in recovery from addiction and dysfunctional relationships. My work is deeply rooted in both personal experience and professional training, allowing me to meet people with empathy, honesty, and understanding.

Recovery opened the door to an entirely new chapter in my life. It led me to pursue studies in early childhood education, earn a BA in Communications, and complete an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. Along the way—through coursework, internships, and life itself—I learned that healing doesn’t come from textbooks alone. True connection is what creates safety, trust, and transformation.

I share this to create an equal environment, as there is healing when hearts connect. We face power struggles on a daily basis, and I want to ensure that this space does not contribute to feelings of inadequacy.

My coaching practice is built on creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported. A space free from judgment. A space where the truths of life are honored, and where coping tools are grounded in real-world experience—not perfection.

Together, we’ll explore your values, habits, and relationships to uncover what’s getting in the way—and what’s ready to grow. Let’s share a cup of tea and begin your journey toward a more intentional, grounded, and fulfilling life.

Coaching that Meets You Where You Are

Whether you're navigating recovery, seeking healthier relationships, or simply feeling stuck—you're not alone. My coaching is designed to support you through real-life challenges with care, honesty, and grounded tools that actually work.

I offer one-on-one coaching for people ready to explore intentional living, relationship patterns, and emotional wellness. This is a space where you can show up as you are—no judgment, no pressure. Together, we’ll uncover what’s holding you back and build practical steps toward the life you want.

Every journey is different, which is why our work is personal and collaborative. You don’t have to have it all figured out—you just need a willingness to begin.

Wellness is Personal

Having to overcome dysfunction early in life, I came to understand that addiction isn’t just about substances—it’s also about disconnection. For 25 years, I tried to fill the emptiness inside me with external vices: drugs, alcohol, social media, shopping, other people’s validation. I kept trying to manage it all on my own, but I found myself stuck in the same painful patterns. Eventually, I asked for help—and that’s when everything began to shift.

Recovery taught me that healing happens when we slow down, get honest with ourselves, and stay present with what’s real. That’s what led me to start Mindful Tea Time—to offer the same kind of support that guided me through my own journey.

What I Offer

I provide education, information, and intuitive insight on self development and relationships. Through your process of transformation, I provide holding space to encourage, nurture, guide, and empower women and children to make changes in their lives through researched base modalities. I see things from a cultural and feminist lens and consider how socio-political issues affect our well being.

More than Talking

The creative process helps me gain self-awareness to gain personal insight and a better understanding of my emotions, thoughts, and instincts. I use various forms of art such as journaling, poetry, music, literature, visual art prompts, movement, and creative exercises to help with connect and heal the mind, body and spirit.
